Vicksburg was a strategic, Confederate city high on a bluff over the Mississippi River. The siege of Vicksburg lasted for 47 days in 1863 and was one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War.

Day 2 saw us visit our first NPS site of this trip. It was the site of the Confederate's largest POW prison. It was the most deadly site of the Civil War because over 13,000 Union soldiers died there due to the deplorable conditions. Pictured are the entrance to the stockade (reconstructed) and us at the Springhouse.

PS4 Baseball
We capped off our first day on the road with a little home away from home: PS4 Baseball. We've been having so much fun this summer playing that we decided to bring it on the road. For the record, Dad won 2-1 by stealing home in the top of the 9th.
